D-FLIP: Dynamic & Flexible Interactive PhotoShow

D-FLIP provides a new algorithm to interactively enjoy a large collection of photos with friends, family, and colleagues. Photos are displayed and arranged dynamically using different principles, which can be flexibly organized, replaced, or added through user interactions. Using the same algorithm, D-FLIP can also be used to visualize other media types such as movies, paintings, web content using their meta-data. Potential applications are interactive visualizations for a big-data, for educational purposes in schools, for a sophisticated recommendation system, and so on. In addition, D-FLIP can help to build an ecosystem of different media types which includes promising features such as pigeonholing, printing, automatic acquisition of meta-data, evolving into sharing sites, and coordinating with social network services.
